Every first-year law student is expected to take a course on Comparative Law. But what is comparative law? It is the theoretical study of the relationship between legal systems of different countries and their differences. Comparative Law involves the study of laws such as common law, socialist law, civil law, Islamic law, Jewish law, Canon law, Chinese law and Hindu law. The study produces results relating to different legal cultures that are studied. Comparative law is important because it increases globalization of world trade which includes developing businesses in unfamiliar legal systems, and harmonization of laws and international unity. About Sujit Choudhry

Sujit Choudhry is an internationally recognized authority on comparative constitutional law and politics. Having worked at different universities and firms, he has top notch experience in the field. He is currently working as a Professor of Law at the University of California, Berkeley- School of Law. He has participated in constitution building process in Egypt, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Ukraine, Tunisia, Jordan, Libya, and Nepal. He has lectured at different universities such as New York University where he was the Cecelia Goetz Professor of Law, and at the University of Toronto where he was the School Chair. He holds a law degree from Oxford, Toronto, and Harvard universities. He has also served as a Rhodes Scholar and a law clerk to Chief Justice Antonia Lamer of the Supreme Court of Canada.
